Medicine Land
A healing journey into nature.
After my concussion, recovery was slow, isolating, and uncertain. I needed to head to a healing place and spend time moving, but not racing, allowing nature to dictate the pace and the path. I packed my gear and set off to Bears Ears National Monument with Steve “Doom” Fassbinder. We spent days in this sacred landscape—riding, exploring, and sleeping under the stars—reconnecting with ourselves and the land.
The experience was raw, a reminder that movement is medicine and that nature can heal what feels impossible. Bears Ears holds a deep history, a place once nearly lost to greed but preserved through the power of community and resilience. It’s a place that makes you feel small in the best way possible, grounding you in the simple beauty of being alive.
"If this place hadn’t been protected it would be gone… we can’t replace it, we can’t make it over again. Nature is the one thing modern humans haven’t figured out how to recreate and why should we, it’s already here, it’s perfect." Rebecca Rusch
Medicine Land, a film about this journey to Bears Ears, is available on my YouTube channel. I invite you to take this journey with us.
